Signal Entry Expiry: When a Visible Alert Is No Longer Actionable
A message can remain readable after its condition expires. Evaluate the original rule instead of inheriting an old reference price.
Separate message persistence from validity
A channel archive can retain an instruction indefinitely while its eligible window lasts briefly. Identify the original expiry, condition and amendment policy. If the product supplies commentary rather than an entry window, classify it accordingly.
The existence of a recent notification does not prove the entry remains eligible. A repeated or forwarded old object can look new while referring to an expired setup. Keep its relationship to the first instruction.
Name each relevant time
Record publication as stated, receipt, first review and the latest eligible time. Keep device and source uncertainty explicit. A receipt before expiry can still be unusable if review occurs afterward.
Do not infer a validity period from a brand, holding-period label or chat room. Ask for the selected product's written rule. A long advertised horizon does not automatically make any late entry valid.
Worked late-receipt case
Hypothetical example: an instruction is published at 13:30:00 UTC, expires at 13:31:00 UTC and is received at 13:31:10 UTC. Under that stated window it is late. These are invented teaching times, not a measured vendor delay.
A later chart showing the original price does not create an eligible subscriber entry. Retain the late state in the instruction inventory and keep any hypothetical reconstruction separate.
Preserve condition-based expiry
Some instructions can expire because a price condition, cancellation or revision invalidates them before a clock deadline. Save that rule and its authoritative update. A time field alone cannot cover every type of invalidation.
If the cancellation time cannot be established, mark the relevant observation unresolved. Do not assume the buyer could act on the original just because an outcome card remains visible.
Count late objects correctly
Late or expired objects matter to usability but are not automatically executed losses or wins. Keep the original population and the execution denominator distinct. Explain exclusions under a rule fixed before reading outcomes.
The useful operational measure may concern how much output remains interpretable during ordinary sessions. It should not be relabelled a strategy accuracy percentage.
Make the expiry request specific
Ask which exact field, condition or update ends eligibility and how a subscriber can retrieve it. Keep selected-plan and channel details attached. An unanswered expiry question is a reasonable purchase constraint.
The timing calculator uses declared assumptions only. A within-window result does not authenticate the instruction, price, instrument or account action.
Equality at the boundary
A rule needs to state what happens at the exact deadline. The teaching workbench treats entry expiry as inclusive and the chosen session close as exclusive; those are visible assumptions, not universal product terms. A real product can use another convention. Save the governing rule rather than borrowing the worksheet default.
Late review after prompt delivery
A notification might arrive before expiry while the reader inspects it after expiry. That is an attention limit rather than necessarily a delivery defect. Keep both times. An observation design that stores only receipt can overstate usable output for someone whose ordinary review is delayed.
Invalidation without a clock deadline
A price condition or cancellation can end eligibility before a displayed deadline. The workbench does not model that condition automatically. It can compare the entered clock while the actual instruction remains unresolved. Do not promote a within-window output into complete trade eligibility when another required condition is absent.
